Please Use My Gift Where Most Needed to Provide Exceptional, Compassionate, Patient-Centered Care

As Peterson Health proudly celebrates 75 years of exceptional, compassionate, patient-centered care in the Texas Hill Country, we recognize that your generosity has made this journey possible. Your support has been transformative, allowing us to offer state-of-the-art care and expanded services right here at home, so our patients don’t have to travel to San Antonio or beyond.

With your help, Peterson remains fiercely independent and deeply committed
to advancing care for our community. This year, donor support has funded
a range of projects that are already making a meaningful difference
in the lives of our patients, their families, and our dedicated staff.

Here are some highlights of what your generosity has already accomplished this year:

ENT Navigation System: This advanced technology allows physicians to “map” the sinuses, ensuring an incredibly precise image for surgical cases. “I want to personally thank the donors for making it possible to purchase the new navigation system for Peterson Hospital. The navigation system has allowed me to care for many more critical sinus patients. This technology allows me to approach each of the very deep sinus areas near and around the skull base and medial to the bony orbit, carefully and safely.”
– Dr. Sylvester Ramirez

Spider Shoulder Position System: This essential device enables our surgeons to position the shoulder for complex surgeries. “The spider arm positioner has been crucial for management of complex rotator cuff surgery as well as shoulder replacements. The positioner has allowed more precise and efficient surgery that has optimized patient safety and surgical outcomes.”
– Dr. Jason Goodrum

Magnet Journey: Peterson is on the path to achieving Magnet status, a coveted recognition that highlights nursing excellence and best practices. This process has been strengthened by donor support. “Peterson’s journey toward Magnet status began 18 months ago, and thanks to the support from generous donors, we’re making tremendous strides. This process involves meeting 95 rigorous standards of nursing excellence, which requires a dedicated, collaborative effort across our teams. Over the past year, bedside nurses have become increasingly engaged in process improvement and evidence-based practice, working closely across departments to enhance patient outcomes. This initiative has strengthened our commitment to innovative, quality care for our patients while recognizing the selfless contributions of our nursing workforce. Donor support is vital to this mission, and we are deeply grateful as we work together to achieve World Class Care at Peterson Health.”
– Lori Michel, Nursing Clinical Coordinator

Moses Holmium Laser: The generosity of our donors made it possible for us to replace our outdated holmium laser with a new, advanced model. This laser is crucial for treating urinary stone disease. “Thanks to the incredible generosity of our donors, we were able to purchase a new holmium laser, replacing one that had reached the end of its useful life. This advanced laser technology, which is heavily used by our urologists to treat urinary stone disease, is essential for providing our patients with the best possible care. The new laser works more efficiently, allowing our team to perform less invasive procedures for larger or more complex stones. This upgrade not only improves patient outcomes but also broadens the treatment options available to our community. We are deeply grateful to our donors for making this critical investment in our patients’ health possible.”
– Dr. Ralph Fritzsch

Continuing Education Scholarships: This year, 25 Peterson employees received $51,000 in continuing education scholarships, primarily benefiting nursing staff. “I was graciously given the position of clinical coordinator/supervisor about two years ago. As Peterson is on a Magnet journey, it was required to have a BSN for my role. I was informed I would have to get my BSN in order to get the clinical supervisor position. I am so thankful to those who have donated to this scholarship because it allowed me to focus on my studies instead of worrying about finances and how to pay for school, all while managing a family at home. One of the benefits of obtaining my BSN is that it has taught me a deeper level of critical thinking and how to utilize best patient practices to improve overall patient outcomes in addition to providing the best care possible for our community.”
– Brian Plaster, Clinical Manager - ARU

New Mattresses: Thanks to our donors and the funds raised at our Diamond Anniversary Gala, we were able to provide new, comfortable mattresses for our patients. “Our patients have been able to rest more comfortably than ever with these new mattresses. The streamlined design is much easier to operate with no hoses to get in the way and no alarms going off due to air leaks. It has made a big difference for both our patients and staff. We’re incredibly grateful to our generous donors for helping us provide this improved level of comfort and care.”
– Melinda Hunley, RN

you’re helping us build for our community.
